A Quote I Wish had been Mine
“When I started getting interested in politics and national affairs, I once again was brought up short by the claims of Jesus. To affirm that Jesus Christ is Lord is to acknowledge that no political leader, party, flag, nation, or ideology can share lordship over my life. The one who confesses Christ alone as Lord cannot simultaneously affirm utmost loyalty to another idea or person.”

So much of what I hear from the Christian community on both sides of politics puts party loyalty and issues in the suppreme place. I'm sick of republicans using Christ to gain power and I'm sick of democrats villainizing republicans as rich oppressors when they are at least as guilty.
And, yes, I do hope that other people can envision the redemption of politics, but I cannot.

I am with you Ty. My question was aimed at why is it a problem that we are to have Jesus first. To me it is a no brainer. Jesus first every thing else after. Especially politics.
